After the congress, two workshops will be organized at the Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Hydrobiology of the University of Lodz. If you are interested in any of them, fill out the available forms or write an email to the organizing committee.

MEDAMP
(Mediterranean and Adjacent Seas Amphipod Reference Library)
Announced on April 2024, involving the taxonomists and amphipodologists in general of the Mediterranean Sea and the adjacent Seas, the collective initiative MEDAMP aims to start to fill the gaps in the public databases for the amphipods and to bring some order with the help of Everyone. Coordinated by the University of Lodz and the University of Minho, with the support of the Horizon Europe “Biodiversity Genomics Europe” project (BGE) and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the first project aiming to disentangle the Elasmopus genus managed to process more than 1000 specimens from all over the Mediterranean Sea!
This 4-day workshop (5 to 8 September) aims to identify some specimens left without an accurate ID but already with a sequence, from the Mediterranean and Red Sea. This will allow us to develop a curated reference library that will help future monitoring efforts.
Also, during the workshop, it will be possible to sequence specimens using ONT sequencing.
If you would like to sequence your amphipods, please contact us at: icaxx.2025@gmail.com
A few grants for accommodation are available.
Distribution of specimens in BOLD System for MEDAMP project
Please fill out this form to register for this workshop.
Talitraits
The group was established to meet the interdisciplinary need of pairing a taxonomic backbone with ecological studies -for the time being, focusing on the land-sea interface. In 2018, the first group of editors met to setup a strategy for the years to come and sets of traits to be prioritized.
It is now timely to readdress these points to keep aligned with WoRMS directions (including new traits!) and to train eventual new editors willing to work with talitrids.
The workshop will last one day, including a presentation of the bigger picture of WoRMS, a hands-on training, a discussion on updated priorities, and the planning of a communication strategy about this piece of work, under the supervision of the WoRMS Data Management Team. Finally, a collective paper to provide the state of the art is expected to proceed from the workshop.
If interested, please let us know through the FORM and consider staying on the 6th of September for an extra day in Lodz.
We are planning at least one workshop after the congress, but please contact us if you have any idea and would like to propose one: icaxx.2025@gmail.com
